Educational Animal Encounter: Who's Who? Animal Variation and Classification
Audience: KS2
Brief Description:
Children will observe and identify similarities and differences between animals. Children will participate in discussion using the terms vertebrates and invertebrates and be given an introduction to classification groups. Children will have the opportunity to classify animals through observed similarities and differences.
Children will gain an understanding why animals need to be different to survive in their habitat.

NC: Sc2: 4b To group living things according to observable similarities and differences.
NC: Sc2: 5b To identify similarities and differences between local environments and ways in which these affect animals and plants found there.Each workshop, presentation and encounter is accompanied by a brief lesson plan indicating lesson outcomes and suggestions for follow up work.
