        Educational Animal Encounter: Food webs, decomposers and recycling                              

        Audience: KS1/KS2

        Brief Description:

Children will discover 'Who eats who and what?' and build simple food chains. Children will develop an understanding of the importance of decomposers and recyclers within the food chain.
We will take a look at interdependence between plants and animals within a habitat.

        Links to National Curriculum/QCA Schemes of Work:

NC: Sc2: 1c To know about the links between life processes in familiar animals and plants and their environment.
NC: Sc2: 5b To know about the plants and animals found in different habitats.
NC: Sc2: 5d To use food chains to show feeding relationships in a habitat.
NC: Sc2: 5e To know how nearly all food chains start with a green plant.

 Each workshop, presentation and encounter is accompanied by a brief lesson plan indicating lesson outcomes and suggestions for follow up work.
