        Educational Animal Encounter: I'd like a Pet! How to care for animals.                     

        Audience: Foundation/KS1

        Brief Description:

Children will meet mini-beasts and insects up close! They will identify things that all living things do using the animals as a stimulus. Children will identify the basic needs of our pets using, an animal and pet care accessories as a stimulus. Children will have the opportunity to handle a pet discuss how to care for it and think about choosing the right pet. Children will take a look at some very different pets and identify their needs.

To know that pets need to be looked after.
To know that all animals should be treated with care and respect.

To know that it is important to think carefully about whether a particular pet will suit your lifestyle.

 Each workshop, presentation and encounter is accompanied by a brief lesson plan indicating lesson outcomes and suggestions for follow up work.
