Educational Animal Encounter: Moving and Growing
Audience: KS2
Brief Description:
Children will explore reasons for moving and witness a variety of movement. Children will look at adaptations to movement paying attention to muscles, skeletons and bones. Children will discuss the role of the skeleton and take a close up look at some vertebrates and invertebrates. Children will examine a range of shed exoskeletons to give a visual demonstration of how these change their appearance.

NC: Sc2: 1a To know that the life processes common to humans and other animals include movement and growth.
NC: Sc2: 2e To know that humans and other animals have skeletons and muscles to support and protect their bodies and to help them move.
QCA Unit 4A
Children should learn that the skeleton supports the body.Each workshop, presentation and encounter is accompanied by a brief lesson plan indicating lesson outcomes and suggestions for follow up work.
